Doctors Notes:

COVID vaccine for kids

Kate Davis

Exciting news!  The Pfizer vaccine has been approved down to age 12, and studies continue on children down to age 6 months.  Hopefully, that means we can keep kids healthy and get back to more and more in person activities.

Although children generally have done pretty well if they got infected with COVID there have certainly been children that have died or ended up very sick. The great news is that so far the vaccines seems to be 100% effective in children….no vaccine for any illness prior to that has that high of an effectiveness rate.  The side effects are the same we are seeing in adults….arm pain, fever, fatigue, headache, etc. that are all short lived.

I am putting a link here for FAQ about the COVID vaccine and as always, there is additional information on our resource page as well.  Continue to watch for information on when your child will be able to get their COVID vaccine from our amazing shot givers, but if you can’t wait you can contact your local health department to see when they will have opening or go to VaccinateWestMI.com
